How this calculator works

  1. Enter a total cost and the number of days it covers.
  2. The calculator divides to find the cost per day.
  3. It then multiplies that daily rate out to weekly, monthly and yearly equivalents.

Big totals are hard to feel — but a daily figure makes a cost concrete. This calculator takes any total cost over any number of days and breaks it into a daily rate, then extrapolates that rate to weekly, monthly and yearly figures. It's a favorite trick for evaluating whether a subscription, membership or habit is really worth it.

Example

A $360 annual gym membership over 365 days costs about $0.99/day, $6.90/week, or roughly $29.60/month.

Limitations

This assumes the cost is spread evenly across the period, which may not match how you actually use or pay for something.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the daily cost of something?

Divide the total cost by the number of days it covers. This calculator does that and also shows weekly, monthly and annual equivalents.

Why does my monthly figure not match my actual bill?

We use an average of 30.44 days per month (365.25 ÷ 12) for consistency — your actual monthly bill may fall on shorter or longer months.

Is this useful for subscriptions?

Yes — reframing an annual subscription price as “X per day” is a common way to judge whether it's worth keeping.

What's the difference between this and Cost Per Use?

Cost Per Day spreads a cost evenly over time; Cost Per Use spreads it over how many times you actually use the item, which can be a very different (and more useful) number for things you don't use daily.
